South Coast Shotokan Karate Club
Welcome to the South Coast Shotokan Karate Club (SCSKC) based in Christchurch, Dorset and affiliated to the Southern Shotokan Karate Association (S.S.K.A.).
Karate is a system of unarmed combat in which participants specialize in kicking, punching and striking techniques equally with blocking and defensive movements. Karate is not just physical but is also mental developing discipline, confidence and control and should be underpinned by respect.
We teach all aspects of traditional Shotokan Karate which has its root dating back to Okinawa, Japan and in itself is based on earlier traditions. Shotokan Karate is ideal for children and there is no upper age limit; it can be an ideal family activity.
New members are welcome, please contact us in advance (details on the contact page) or turn up on a training day.
“The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of the participant.”
Gichin Funakoshi (1868-1957)
